Put a STOP to these behaviours!!

Anyone who knows me well knows that I am a big fan of great health. I don’t just enjoy feeling a hundred bucks myself, but I love leading others towards a life of awesome health too. The other thing I love is lists. It goes without saying, then, that I enjoy producing lists that will push us all closer to greater health. So, below I’ve created a list of the top 8 things you must STOP doing to progress towards your biggest goals and desires, and ultimately, a happier life.

  1. Stop Procrastinating: It’s a waste of time waiting for life to be perfect. It’s not going to happen, ever. Today is much better than tomorrow. Quit dreaming and start doing. Dreams only become reality when you plan, prepare, and work hard. Delaying your start will only make your goals and dreams seem bigger, more frightening, and further away. Forget about the finish line. Instead, focus on the many steps you will take to reach that finish line. Jump out of your comfort zone and experience how powerful you can actually be.
  2. Stop Running from your Problems: If you got everyone in any one of your peer groups to throw all their problems into a pile, you’d always take your own back. You need to own and personally overcome your problems before they begin to rule your life. No matter how big they seem, get some grit and tackle them head on. Current problems and stresses inhibit you from taking chances and bettering your life’s journey. Don’t just exist in this world, live in it.
  3. Stop Making Excuses: The only thing that can change you is you. Take responsibility for your own actions. The world can only offer you wonderful things when you begin to address your own wants and needs. Blaming external sources only denies your own responsibilities. Making excuses and accusations will not lead you to success so stop doing it. Put the power into your own hands, and fly.
  4. Stop Negative Self-Talk: The mind is a powerful instrument which can, and will, lead you almost anywhere. Become aware of all the chitter chatter going on in your head; is it constructive or destructive? One of the many reasons we fail to achieve what we so badly seek is self-doubt and negative self-talk. Replace any negative or self-defeating talk with positive thoughts and emotions. Make optimism dominate your cognitions and experience new paths in life.
  5. Stop Avoiding Change: We all seem to enjoy being too comfortable with where we are. At the risk of being confronted by challenges and obstacles, we opt to stick with what we know. But it is only when we embrace change, that we enable ourselves to grow, and the world around us becomes an entirely new place. Change won’t be easy, nor will it also be pleasant at first, but you can guarantee it will be worth it.
  6. Stop trying to be Someone Else: It simply isn’t worth it. You were born to be you. Stop doing things to make others happy. Make yourself happy first. You are unique and you needn’t try to fit the mold that the latest magazine is trying to sell you. Be your own unique self, achieve the things that you yourself want to achieve, and the right people will love you and be there for you.
  7. Stop Living in the Past & Future: Live in the now, because that’s where you are. Stop wondering what may have been, or what could be. The past is behind us and the future doesn’t exist yet. Focus only on that which you can control – the present. Our goals and ambitions hinge on our ability to pay attention to what we are doing right now. Stop fantasizing. Instead, live in the moment and act with pure intention and purpose.
  8. Stop Being Ungrateful: Rid yourself of all the things that haven’t worked, that have produced unsatisfactory results, or that have made you unhappy. Make room for the things that’ll pave your road to gold. Over time, you will realise that all past mistakes and challenges have confronted you for good reason. You wouldn’t be who you are today without them. Wake up each day and be grateful for your existence. And note that you will only get out of life what you put into it.
